Our History
AJL Manufacturing was established over 45 years ago by Al Porter, Jerry Pavlovych, and Lou Spence, whom immediately maintained a day-to-day, hands-on-presence. Their efforts ensured our foundation was built upon strong relationships with both large and small customers from all over the nation, including stringent, quality-conscious companies such as Eastman Kodak, Xerox, Chiron Diagnostics, and Picker International.
Our Beginning
From our beginning in 1969, we have provided big company solutions with small business service, specializing in the manufacture of low to mid-volume sheet metal components and assemblies.

1969
The company is founded under the name A, J & L Tool & Die Co., Inc. Located in a 30,000 square foot facility on Burrows Street in Rochester, NY, it specializes in building progressive dies and fixtures.
1971
AJL's capabilities advance from solely die production to include commercial component manufacturing as well.
1977
AJL Manufacturing is one of the first contract manufacturers in Rochester, NY, to purchase a laser and turret, shortening lead times and reducing the need for tooling.
1987
A robotic welder is purchased by the company, and AJL's capabilities evolve from component manufacturing to precision sheet metal frame, weldment, and enclosure fabrication.
1991
The company name is definitively changed to AJL Manufacturing, Inc.
1997
AJL moves to its current 165,000 square foot facility on Holleder Parkway in Rochester, NY.
1998
AJL Manufacturing shifts its focus from high-volume work and specializes in low- to mid-volume, high complexity programs.
AJL also builds a Class 10,000 cleanroom for assembly and testing of products that must meet stringent quality and functional requirements.
2000
AJL obtains ISO 9001 certification. This same year, its starts offering customers supply chain management services.
2001
AJL is recognized as a key supplier to a 2001 winner of the Medical Design Excellence Award.
2005
AJL Manufacturing is named in the Rochester Business Alliance's 2005 "Rochester Top 100"
2015
